The main reason this level of plastic consumption is bad is due to where it ends up once it’s been discarded.
Unfortunately, the majority of plastic ends up in the ocean, having a catastrophic effect on the environment and marine life. In fact, over 100,000 marine creatures are killed each year due to the effects of plastic in their habitat, and it’s estimated there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050.

What is Social Plastic®?
One of the great companies we work alongside is Plastic Bank, which helps to provide us with Social Plastic® material that can be used in our products.
Social Plastic® is a type of recycled plastic that is used to create beautiful pieces of furniture without negatively impacting the environment or marine life.
While all Social Plastic® is recycled plastic, not all recycled plastic is Social Plastic®. This is because plastic waste that is used to create Social Plastic® is exchanged as currency at Plastic Bank branches around the world. This currency then produces bonuses that are used to provide basic necessities, such as food, health services, education and more, to local families living in poverty – meaning both environments and local communities are supported.
Many of our wonderful recycled plastic products are made using Social Plastic®.

What is DuraOcean®?
We also manufacture chairs made from DuraOcean®, a material used to create chairs that look fantastic in every garden and outdoor space. The chairs are made from recycled maritime plastic, preventing the plastic from entering and polluting the Oceans.
Not only are the entire buckets of the chairs made from recycled materials, but once it’s reached the end of its life it can be completely disassembled and recycled again!
DuraOcean® material is made from ropes used in the marine industry that have been discarded, before transforming them into recycled plastic that is used to create stunning chairs.
